Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE delivery of all health services at the Tondoro Health Centre has been restored after being affected by a flash flood on Wednesday. The health centre is located in Kavango West, where heavy rainfall was reported.<\/p>\n

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Services Executive Director, Ben Nangombe, it was indicated that the health centre\u2019s waiting area, reception area, pharmacy storage area, and delivery room became waterlogged.<\/p>\n

According to Nangombe, their assessment revealed that the rainwater that flooded the Health Center originated from a water pool that had formed along the nearby gravel road due to inadequate stormwater drainage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Health and Social Services is working with the Roads Authority (RA) of Namibia to put mitigatory measures in place at the Health Centre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that this includes creating channels to divert stormwater from reaching the Health Centre in the future, as well as erecting barrier walls around the waiting areas and alongside the entrance to the health centre to prevent waterlogging caused by thunderstorms.<\/p>\n

Nangombe indicated that the extent of potential damage to the Tondoro Health Centre, including medical equipment and clinical supplies, has been assessed.<\/p>\n

He stressed that no injuries to patients, staff members, or members of the public have been reported as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Nangombe added that no major damage to medical equipment or clinical supplies has been reported, with only the refrigerator in the kitchen of the Health Center experiencing a short circuit due to contact with water.<\/p>\n
