This collaboration marks a significant boost to the WBCG’s operations, and is a milestone in the transport and logistics industry as Engen becomes the exclusive fuel sponsor for the group with effect from 1 February 2024.

This partnership seeks to specifically strengthen the WBCG health and wellness interventions in Namibia, building on the initial support provided by Engen during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Through the agreement, Engen Namibia has agreed to provide the WBCG with a fuel sponsorship of N$100 000 for the duration of one year.

Jean-Blaise Ollomo, Engen’s managing director, said the fuel sponsorship is aimed at contributing to the smooth operation of the WBCG’s health and wellness services. “This, in turn, will contribute towards the efficient provision of healthcare services across different regions of Namibia, and potentially improving the overall health and well-being of communities. Engen Namibia is, therefore, proud to support the WBCG’s mission by providing high-quality and reliable fuel solutions to optimise their fleet’s performance, and reach out to most communities which are benefiting from their service offering,” said Ollomo.

As a key player in the transport and logistics industry, the WBCG plays a crucial role in facilitating the seamless flow of trade, and further provides targeted health and wellness services to various vulnerable populations such as long-distance truck drivers and communities along the corridors and around the borders.

“The collaboration between Engen Namibia and the WBCG showcases a form of smart partnership between a fuel company and a corridor management institution. This type of collaboration can set an example for other industries, encouraging similar partnerships that benefit various sectors of the economy,” Ollomo added.

Mbahupu Tjivikua, WBCG’s chief executive officer, observed that this collaboration underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in creating a positive and sustainable impact.

“By joining hands with Engen Namibia, we are not only strengthening our ability to provide essential health and wellness services, but also contributing to the overall well-being of the communities we serve. I extend my sincere gratitude to Engen Namibia for their continuous commitment to this cause, and their recognition of the importance of investing in the health and wellness of the industry. Together, we look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who play a vital role in keeping our society connected,” he stated.

In 2020, Engen Namibia sponsored N$100 000 in fuel to the WBCG to support the group’s health and wellness service programme in efforts to respond to Covid-19, in collaboration with the health and social services ministry.

For More News And Analysis About Namibia Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Namibia.
