Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THIS weekend witnessed widespread rainfall across multiple regions, resulting in flooding in some areas, especially in the Otjozondjupa and Kunene regions.<\/p>\n

Otavi and Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region, as well as Outjo in the Kunene Region, are among some of the places that were most affected by the weekend\u2019s rainfall.<\/p>\n

According to the Namibia Meteorological Services, Outjo recorded 18.6 millimetres (mm) between Saturday and Sunday morning (at 8:00). However, the total rainfall in Outjo for the weekend is estimated to be as much as, if not more than, 55mm. Weather enthusiasts on social media also reported that both Okahandja and Otavi received over 70mm of rain in total during the weekend.<\/p>\n

Photos shared on Facebook vividly captured the impact of the heavy rainfall in Outjo, where numerous vehicles were seen submerged in the flooded streets. The Outjo Municipality even had to assist some residents whose cars got stuck in floodwaters after the town experienced heavy rains on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Photos depicting the rainfall in Otavi and Okahandja also gained significant attention online. Some of the images showcasing Okahandja\u2019s heavy rainfall were shared by PS Travel Namibia on Facebook, accompanied by the caption, \u201cWhen it rains in Namibia, the mood is just indescribable! You are so happy about the small flowers, the beautiful colours, and the wonderful smell!\u201d<\/p>\n

While Otavi, Okahandja, and Outjo took centre stage during this weekend\u2019s weather events, other areas also experienced light to moderate rainfall. These locations include Oshaambelo in the Omusati Region, Rehoboth in the Hardap Region, Omaruru in the Erongo Region, Windhoek in the Khomas Region, and Karasburg in the \/\/Kharas Region, recording 28mm, 9.5mm, 3.6mm, 3.5mm, and 2.9mm, respectively, between Saturday and Sunday morning (from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m.).<\/p>\n

Photos of the rain at various other places such as Uis, Usakos, Ariamsvlei, Opuwo and Kamanjab, among others, were also shared online, further confirming the extensive nature of the weekend\u2019s rainfall.<\/p>\n

The Namibia Meteorological Services predicts more rain for various interior areas this week, including Rundu, Ondangwa, Windhoek, and Keetmanshoop. The Kunene and Erongo regions, in particular, are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day today. Tomorrow will likely see a few showers in the southern, central, and eastern regions, as well as in the northern coastal area, according to Namibia Meteorological Services.<\/p>\n
