Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>President Nangolo Mbumba says he is uncomfortable with the titles of president and excellency.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mbumba was answering questions in an interview on NBC TV on Sunday regarding his plans while in office.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose things are not what is important. It is the job that needs to be done daily, monthly, until this term is over.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still part of the Geingob term of office. This is not a term of office I won in an election. This is one of those things that befall a country and we must respect that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mbumba added that he has no intention of staying on beyond Geingob\u2019s term.<\/p>\n

Mbumba will stay in office until 21 March 2025, when a new president will be elected in the presidential and National Assembly elections in November.<\/p>\n

He said there will also be no changes to the office and that advisers will have to complete their term as per their contracts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m appointing people because a vacancy has occurred. Some are saying, oh you should have your own advisers. Advisers were doing things and they must complete those things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mbumba added that he has no intention of competing for the position of president.<\/p>\n

He said he will complete Geingob\u2019s term and thereafter, retire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to block anybody because I could use this position. No, I\u2019m not going to do that. To be 82 is not a joke, and we must thank God that we are able to reach this stage and to speak the way we are speaking.\u201d<\/p>\n
