Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Schlumberger Oilfield, an oil and gas servicing company based in Angola, will recruit graduates from various institutions in Namibia after a recruitment aptitude test held at Triumphant College in Windhoek yesterday.<\/p>\n

Some 200 graduates have been selected from Triumphant College and other institutions across the country after a series of applications.<\/p>\n

Founder and rector of Triumphant College, Geoffrey Kiangi, said in an interview with Youth Corner that this will be an imperative opportunity for those who make it, as they stand a chance to be selected for the apprenticeship and possibly employed by one of the biggest oil companies in Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working with Schlumberger to recruit Namibians who should work in the upcoming oil industry. Many Namibians will be developed to be able to undertake these operations. Schlumberger is one of the biggest oil extraction companies in the world, and they are expecting to start their operations in Namibia very soon.<\/p>\n

In this recruitment process, Schlumberger will take students who have graduated from Triumphant College and other institutions who are doing engineering. This is a very big thing for approximately 20 graduates who will be selected out of the 200; we are very excited. It is not just a one-time thing, but they will come back again, and they will recruit other professionals,\u201d Kiangi said.<\/p>\n

He added that Schlumberger wants to recruit skilled employees, but in the same vein, wants to enable the country to participate in global skills development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also consulting with Schlumberger to be able to get some financial facilities, simulation software and equipment that will help our training in the oil industry,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The principal of the school of engineering faculty at the college, Onjefu Leonard, said the multinational company also recruited local graduates in 2022.<\/p>\n

These graduates are currently undertaking internship programmes at the company, while others are fully-employed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a very important initiative. Students who have been previously selected are already equipped with the necessary skills and intellect; those who have been selected for the test will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the new emerging technology that has come to stay in Namibia,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The head of the Department of Construction Engineering, Ademilade Olubambi, explained how the recruitment process works.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cAn application process was commenced a few months ago, giving a platform to various institutions in the country. Among the 200 who were selected, a severing process took place, and nine graduates were dropped, leaving only 191 graduates who will write the aptitude test. The results are expected to be out on 26 April 2024. About 50 graduates will be selected to undergo interviews, scheduled to take place on 30 April 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the interviews, only 20 graduates will be recruited into the company for training and apprenticeship.<\/p>\n
