Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Namibian Police (NamPol) have commenced interviews for the force\u2019s Cadet Constable candidates, and the training of successful candidates will begin in July.<\/p>\n

This was announced by NamPol\u2019s Head of Public Relations, Kauna Shikwambi, who disclosed that applicants must undergo medical tests as part of the employment process.<\/p>\n

She explained that this aligns with the Police Act (1990), which mandates medical examinations to ensure applicants do not have physical or mental conditions that could hinder their ability to undergo necessary training or perform duties as a police force member. She added that it is also to ensure that applicants do not have physical or mental conditions that could worsen to the extent that they impede training or duty performance, or be exacerbated by the training or duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe medical check-up includes a general body check-up, screening, and blood tests to determine that the candidate to be recruited does not suffer from any ailments and diseases as per our recruitment policy,\u201d she said, referencing Chapter 4 of the Police Administration Manual.<\/p>\n

She added that it is of paramount importance to ensure that during the medical check-up, the dignity of the person being tested is fully respected at all times and conducted in a dignified manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore all these tests are conducted, there is a pre-counselling session that is conducted with the candidates where they give permission or consent,\u201d she assured.<\/p>\n
