Swapo used him to speak at their political rallies,” he said.He said Swapo’s district coordinator for the Katima Mulilo Urban consituency, Rosko Simasiku, also joined the party.Lizazi claimed those who joined the IPC are tired of corruption.“Swapo has lost direction and young people are unemployed; they are frustrated. They are tired of hearing the liberation struggle rhetoric of Swapo,” he said.Itula on Saturday welcomed the new members to the IPC at an event at Nawa Nawa Gardens. Lizazi said his party would continue to mobilise and educate people on the IPC, and to recruit new members. “The mission is for the party to take over the government, and to restore dignity and order by 2024,” he said.Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Kabbe South constituency, Sydney Shamwazi, said the party is faced with the challenge that some parts of the constituency cannot be reached by car.He said some areas, such as Impalila Island, Samba, Nkoza and Musele are surrounded by lakes and rivers. “In most cases we phone or text people. Currently we have a large number of people who joined the party, of which most are from Swapo,” Shamwazi said. Nawa Nawa yesterday confirmed that he joined the IPC last week.He said he had been a member of Swapo for 52 years.“I did not join Swapo by chance, I was born there. My grandfather started Caprivi African National Union with Brendan Simbaye. I am now a member of the IPC, and I am happy,” he said. Limbo could not be reached for comment.Swapo’s coordinator for the Kabbe district, George Kasale, said he was not aware of Swapo members joining the IPC this past weekend.“I don’t have that information,” he said.Swapo’s regional coordinator for the Zambezi region, Moffat Sileze, was also not aware of the members deserting the party.“On that day I was attending a Swapo meeting at Linyatti,” he said.

Africa-Press – Namibia.
