Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>About 10 amateur boxing stables in the northern part of the country will compete today at the MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club\u2019s boxing bonanza, to be held at Ondangwa Trade Fair.<\/p>\n

Themed \u201cYoung Shall Grow Boxing Bonanza\u201d, the event aims to scout boxers who will represent the Oshana region at the annual national boxing bonanza later this year.<\/p>\n

According to Joseph Bernhard, owner and promoter at Kilimanjaro boxing club, the bonanza will feature clubs from around Oshakati and other nearby towns and constituencies, all vying for top honours.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t just a tournament; it\u2019s a means of promoting sports among youth, and steering them away from engaging in negative behaviours. Through this, we aim to help them realise their dreams because not everyone excels academically, but sports can pave a path to success. We expect a large turnout with exciting boxing matches on display,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

This event marks the first of the year for the boxing stable, offering the region an opportunity to gauge its readiness to compete with other regions like Khomas and Erongo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s our mandate to provide these kids with a platform to reach their dreams. This event is particularly special because we must scout the best to represent us at the national championships,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time for Oshana to assert its dominance and compete at the highest level. We would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors, MTC, for making this event possible through their funding. We hope to see more competitions like this in the future,\u201d added Bernhard.<\/p>\n

Emvula Emvula, promoter and coach at Teremoto Boxing Academy, which has entered three boxers in the featherweight division, said his boxers are ready to showcase their skills. His boxers are aiming to show dominance at the bonanza today.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a good training for us, and we expect a tough competition. However, we\u2019re well-prepared, having invested significant time in our training, and we aim to emerge victorious today. This competition is exactly what we need. It will propel us forward as a stable towards our goals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
