Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Local boxer Abed Shikongo delivered an impressive performance to silence Alfeus \u201cMosquito\u201d Shaanika at Saturday\u2019s Salute Boxing Academy event held at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek.<\/p>\n

With a stunning display of skill and determination, he claimed the WBA Pan Africa welterweight title by securing a technical knockout in the sixth round.<\/p>\n

Following his victory, an ecstatic Shikongo expressed his gratitude to his supporters, saying, \u201cTo Mosquito\u2019s fans, sorry for disappointing you.\u201d<\/p>\n

His promoter, Kiriata Kamanya, praised Shikongo\u2019s performance, and highlighted the collaboration with Nestor Tobias from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing Academy to host the fight between two Namibian boxers, ensuring that the belt remained in Namibia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI salute all the fans and our main sponsor, MTC. Thank you; this is for the Namibian child,\u201d Kamanya stated. He also called for more corporate support for local boxing to help the sport grow.<\/p>\n

In other fights of the night, Erasmus Hifivali secured a victory through a unanimous decision against Paulus Fillipus in a four-round featherweight bout. Alfeus Modino and Paulus Ipinge settled for a draw after four rounds in their lightweight fight.<\/p>\n

The bout between Lazarus Heita and Tomas Ishidimbwa ended with Ishidimbwa winning by technical knockout. Joiy Nangolo emerged victorious via split decision against Samwel Mwatumbange after a hard-fought junior bantamweight bout lasting four rounds.<\/p>\n

The four-round welterweight fight saw Joseph Ampeya defeat Samuel Nande by unanimous decision. The bout between Immanuel Andeleki and David Shinuna ended as a no-contest due to an accidental head-butt by Shinuna in the third round. In the junior welterweight six-rounder, Merven Nguno knocked out Andreas Nghinaunye, just 31 seconds into the second round.<\/p>\n

Erastus Shapaka won by unanimous decision against Immanuel Mongela after four rounds, and Jonas Erastus successfully defended his flyweight national title by beating Luben Kandimba through unanimous decision over 10 rounds. The heavyweight bout between Anthony Jarmann and Johannes Nangolo concluded with Jarmann knocking out his opponent 1 minute and 51 seconds into the third round. MTC Salute\u2019s Nathanael \u201cNatty\u201d Kakololo triumphed over Hedison \u201cBulelo\u201d Nghipondoka in an eight-round welterweight match.<\/p>\n
