Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Oshakati Town Council on Friday tabled its provisional budget of about N$243.6 million for the financial year 2024\/25. The budget is subject to approval by the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development.<\/p>\n

Presenting the budget, Oshakati mayor Leonard Hango said that the total budget for the financial year 2024\/25 amounts to N$243 575 908. This figure aligns with the total estimated operating income and expenditure, resulting in a balanced budget with no deficit or surplus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis budget is more than just a financial statement; it is a roadmap for our community\u2019s future, a blueprint for progress, and a commitment to the well-being of every resident of Oshakati,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hango emphasised that council has also taken a decision not to increase rates for water during this financial year.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that several major projects are planned. The council allocated N$12.2 million for the construction of sewer reticulation in Oshakati North Ext 12 and Evululuko and N$3.5 million for the construction of services at Extension 16.<\/p>\n

It allocated N$7.6 million for bulk water services in Ompumbu, while the biggest chunk of the council\u2019s budget goes towards the formalisation of various informal settlements of Oshakati.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis budget represents a bold and ambitious plan for Oshakati. It is a testament to our collective aspirations and our shared commitment to progress,\u201d Hango said.<\/p>\n

He added that together, they will build a stronger, more resilient, and more vibrant community and called on the residents to embrace this opportunity with optimism and determination, knowing that the best days for Oshakati are yet to come.<\/p>\n
