Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Three Namibian artists Vitjitua Ndjiharine, Hage Nasheotwalwa Mukwendje and Nesindano \u2018Ques\u2019 Namises recently returned home after several intensive months in Germany on the Akademie Schloss Solitude residency programme.<\/p>\n

This programme promotes Namibian artists to integrate them into new artistic networks and make their work visible to a wider German and international audience. The second round will see artists from Germany coming to Namibia in February 2022 to live and work there for four months.<\/p>\n

Namibian artists in the field of visual arts (production and mediation), literature\/journalism and digital practice, with a specific interest in the areas of restitution\/reparation, cultures of remembrance and digital colonialism are invited to apply for the residency until 19 December 2021.<\/p>\n

This fellowship will be awarded for the period 1 May to 31 August 2022. The programme will organise three residency fellowships to run over four months each for artists, writers\/journalists and practitioners from the digital field in Namibia.<\/p>\n

The fellowship programme will encompass events such as readings, exhibitions, discussions and workshops as a form of output for audiences in Namibia and Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg, Germany.<\/p>\n

The residencies are organised in the framework of a two-part workshop series, curated by Namibian artist and historian Memory Biwa, which initiates a collective approach to the history of colonial relations between Namibia and Germany, and develops new artistic narratives on this topic.<\/p>\n

The fellowship includes a free, furnished living\/working studio, including electricity, water and heating; a monthly fellowship grant of \u20ac1 200 (approximately N$21 458); travel expenses for arrival and departure (on a one-time basis); project funding and one-off materials subsidy as well as health insurance.<\/p>\n

The application material is submitted online and should include a project outline that deals with the topics of restitution\/reparation, cultures of remembrance or digital colonialism in an artistic way as well as a short biography and informative portfolio or documentation of previous artistic work.<\/p>\n
