Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Khomas Regional Council (KRC) has procured an ambulance for the Windhoek Rural Constituency at a cost of N$1.3 million, among other key health projects during the 2023-2024 financial year.<\/p>\n

This announcement was made by Laura McLeod-Katjirua, Governor of the Khomas Region, during her recent State of the Region Address. She disclosed that the ambulance procurement is part of 18 minor capital projects, for which the regional council allocated N$16 million during the 2023-2024 financial year.<\/p>\n

According to the governor, 12 out of the 18 projects have been successfully completed. These completed projects include the procurement of the ambulance, renovations of the Katutura Health Centre worth N$1.5 million, procurement of medical equipment for the Mix Settlement Outreach Clinic worth N$73,000, and the construction of a prefabricated clinic at Mix Settlement worth N$442,000.<\/p>\n

McLeod-Katjirua also reported that renovations of the Hakana Clinic and the Donkerhoek Clinic, valued at N$1.2 million and N$1.5 million respectively, have been completed as well. Both clinics, along with the ambulance for the Windhoek Rural Constituency, will be handed over later this week.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the governor highlighted the completion of several other minor capital projects beyond the health sector. These include procuring equipment for the Rural Information Communication Technology Centres at Groot Aub in Windhoek Rural and Tobias Hainyeko Constituencies, valued at N$150,000.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, McLeod-Katjirua reported that the renovation of a four-classroom block at AI Steenkamp Primary School and the construction of three classroom blocks at Monte Christo Primary School have been completed at a cost of N$674,000 and N$1.2 million, respectively.<\/p>\n

She also revealed that the council completed the procurement of textbooks for schools in all 10 constituencies, worth N$2.1 million; the procurement of eight CCTV cameras for the Samora Machel Constituency, worth N$563,000; and the procurement of kitchen equipment, chairs, and tables for Moses Garoeb and Namibia Primary Schools, valued at N$389,000.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she mentioned that a few projects are still ongoing. These include procuring laboratory equipment for Acacia Secondary School, chairs and desks for Westmont Secondary School, chairs and desks for Monte Christo Primary School, constructing a Module 4 classroom at Westmont Secondary School, providing community Wi-Fi at the Khomasdal Constituency Office Library, and installing high mast lights in the Samora Machel Constituency.<\/p>\n
