Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa says trees in the Omusati region are beautified by the party\u2019s flag.<\/b><\/p>\n

She says most of the trees she has seen along the roadside in the region are \u201cdecorated in blue, red, and green\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shaningwa on Saturday applauded Swapo\u2019s Omusati region coordinator Sacky Kayone for the initiative.<\/p>\n

She was speaking at the official opening of the party\u2019s district office at Etayi.<\/p>\n

Swapo members and supporters recently hoisted flags on a number of trees at Omukoko village near Outapi, where the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) recently opened its office.<\/p>\n

Shaningwa urged party members not to allow the party to be defeated by \u201cpeople without history\u201d, declaring that Swapo is \u201chere to stay\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time around, we will reclaim our two-thirds majority in parliament,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Swapo lost its two-thirds majority and 14 seats in the National Assembly in the 2019 elections.<\/p>\n

Support for the party also dropped from 77% in 2014 to 65% in 2019.<\/p>\n

It further lost its dominance in local authorities during the 2020 regional and local authority elections.<\/p>\n
