Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>AUGUST 26 Logistics company has recently kick-started its corporate social responsibility program known as \u201cChains of Kindness\u201d by making donations benefiting several communities and hundreds of children.<\/p>\n

According to Alpha Nekomba, the Acting Managing Director of August 26 Logistics (Pty) Ltd, the company, through its Chains of Kindness program and together with eighteen of its suppliers, has made a series of donations that helped communities endure the harsh winter season.<\/p>\n

The gifts included food, toiletries, cleaning products, and 600 blankets distributed across four different projects.<\/p>\n

The Havana Charity Work Foundation in Windhoek\u2019s Havana location, which feeds about 400 children every week, received a donation of food, toiletries, cleaning products, and blankets.<\/p>\n

The Chains of Kindness program contributed N$88,713 to the non-profit organization Omiti Planting CC and the Ovinjange Community Project, which tackle water scarcity and food insecurity in the Ovinjange village, approximately eleven kilometres from Opuwo in the Kunene Region. The money is for drilling a borehole that benefits up to 800 people.<\/p>\n

Another donation went to the Rise and Shine Soup Kitchen in Epako, Gobabis. The soup kitchen provides daily meals to 121 children from the San community and permanent accommodation for 23 children.<\/p>\n

\u201cAugust 26 Logistics donated food, toiletries, cleaning materials, and blankets, ensuring these children were warm this winter,\u201d said Nekomba.<\/p>\n

Yet another beneficiary of the program was the Ovatue\/Ovatjimba Community, located about 60 km northwest of Okanguati in the Kunene Region. This community of 150 households was provided with food, toiletries, cleaning materials, and blankets.<\/p>\n

The Chains of Kindness program was established with the primary purpose of supporting those in need across the country and is partnering with different stakeholders and suppliers to provide welfare services and goods to vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe name embodies the company\u2019s mission to build a network of goodwill by collaborating closely with our suppliers. It also reflects August 26 Logistics\u2019 deep commitment to social responsibility and charitable giving,\u201d said Nekomba.<\/p>\n
