Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>President Nangolo Mbumba has said Namibia is positioning itself as a global leader in the green hydrogen industry.<\/p>\n

He was speaking at the high-level business breakfast with the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday.<\/p>\n

He emphasised the country\u2019s commitment to promoting trade, investment and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Mbumba said Namibia is endowed with immense renewable energy potential, making it an ideal location for green hydrogen production.<\/p>\n

\u201cNamibia holds ambitions to position itself globally as the primary producer of green hydrogen due to its immense renewable energy potential. Our country is endowed with natural wind and sun resources, and it is well on its way to becoming a competitive producer and exporter of green hydrogen,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The president said Namibia will be collaborating with Germany to develop a robust hydrogen industry and green value chains.<\/p>\n

He invited investors to explore opportunities in this exciting sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt present, we are collaborating with Germany in this new and exciting sector to develop a robust hydrogen industry and green value chains. We, therefore, invite interested investors to explore opportunities in green hydrogen and its derivative, green ammonia and fertiliser production in Namibia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

To support the development of its green hydrogen industry, Namibia is investing in skills development.<\/p>\n

Namibian students have received scholarships to pursue studies in fields related to the green hydrogen sector, ensuring that the country has the necessary workforce to drive this emerging industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that a sector such as green hydrogen requires a workforce with specialised skills. To this extent, we are collaborating with Germany in the area of skills development. At present, over 100 students have received scholarships to pursue studies in fields related to the green hydrogen sector,\u201d said Mbumba.<\/p>\n

Beyond green hydrogen, Namibia seeks to expand its economy through diversification.<\/p>\n

The government is focused on upgrading infrastructure and positioning the country as a logistical hub within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to transform Namibia into a knowledge-based economy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

By promoting trade, investment and sustainable development, we can create a prosperous and industrialised nation.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
