Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Swapo member and former deputy minister Piet van der Walt promised to tackle youth unemployment at an election campaign meeting in the Khomasdal constituency in Windhoek on Sunday<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Van der Walt referred to the track record of the Swapo government and asked community members to support the party ahead of the national elections in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cKhomasdal is one of the fastest-growing constituencies in the Khomas region. This growth is a direct result of Swapo\u2019s investment in infrastructure: housing, roads, schools, clinics and police stations,\u201d Van der Walt said.<\/p>\n

He also made promises to the youth, including a budget of about N$85.7 billion to be allocated over the next five years to fund priority projects that are supposed to generate mass employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will prioritise direct youth employment creation by encouraging the establishment of new factories, manufacturing plants and companies. Our goal is to absorb graduates and young professionals into the workforce gradually, creating pathways to sustainable livelihoods,\u201d Van der Walt said.<\/p>\n

He told the audience that Swapo is focused on diversifying Namibia\u2019s economy through industrialisation and value addition, with special attention given to emerging industries like the green economy and creative sectors such as the arts and film.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe envision a Namibia united in its commitment to providing quality service delivery, fostering a prosperous future for all Namibians,\u201d Van der Walt concluded his speech, before asking attendants to rally behind Swapo presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.<\/p>\n
