Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>A group of Air Namibia employees took part in a demonstration in Windhoek on Thursday, demanding the payment of their full severance packages.<\/b><\/p>\n

The group is among 600 Air Namibia employees affected by the national airline\u2019s liquidation in 2021, which left many unemployed and struggling to find jobs.<\/p>\n

Group spokesperson Renier Bougard, who worked for the company for 23 years, said the liquidators are prolonging their full payments which were agreed to under oath.<\/p>\n

Bougard said the delay has affected them negatively. \u201cApproximately 10 former employees died during this period, some by suicide and other causes of death,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want the liquidators to pay the rest of the money, or we want the government to intervene to pay the money,\u201d Bouguard added. Meanwhile, another former Air Namibia employee, John Sakaria, who also worked for the company for 23 years, said they are disappointed about the prolonged delays.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want what we signed for,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
