Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Roads Authority (RA) has announced that its Outapi and its permits office at the Erastus Shapumba Towers in Windhoek will be closed until further notice for fumigation.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Outapi office closed on Wednesday and the Windhoek office on Thursday (today). The company’s spokesperson Hileni Fillemon confirmed that the Namibian Traffic Information System Branch (NaTIS) centers have experienced an increase in Covid-19 cases due to the frequent visits of people.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we are seeing an increase in Covid-19 cases countrywide, we want to appeal to the public to please adhere to the protocol that is set in place when visiting our offices,\u201d said Fillemon.<\/p>\n

According to Fillemon, the RA is working on interventions to minimise the frequency of people at their office which includes the introduction of online services in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cLearner licenses booking will be done online. This would also enable our clients to renew their vehicle (licenses) online. We are also working on computerised testing for learner license test. For now, let’s join hands and fight this pandemic,\u201d she said. She further encouraged clients to make use of bank cards when making payments at the centers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know that money carries a lot of germs. If you can pay with a credit or debit card. If you are paying cash please make sure that you sanitise your hands when leaving our offices. If you have a query, rather direct message us throughout social media platforms or send us an email,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Clients with bookings for learner and driving license testing at the affected centers will be contacted via sms line to reschedule new testing dates. NaTIS offices countrywide have stopped accepting new learner license applications from 20 December 2021 to 31 January 2022 as part of their efforts to address the current backlog.<\/p>\n
