Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) has promised to give war veterans a minimum social grant of N$4 400 per month.<\/b><\/p>\n

While launching the party\u2019s manifesto on Saturday, NEFF leader Epafras Mukwiilongo mentioned his party\u2019s intention to address socio-economic issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cSocial grants will be linked to development to bring the poorest into economic participation. We will increase the war veteran grants from N$2 200 to N$4 400 per month for minimum beneficiaries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs last year said a total of 18 291 veterans were receiving a monthly income of N$2 200.<\/p>\n

Mukwiilongo also pledged to provide sustainable jobs and educational training opportunities for women receiving child support grants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will reduce reliance on childbearing as a basis for receiving grants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The NEFF promises to increase the old-age pension and disability grant from N$1 600 to N$3 000 per month.<\/p>\n

\u201cChild support grants will be increased to N$1 000 per month,\u201d the NEFF president said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe economic growth recorded over time, which has led to the development of the country\u2019s economic superstructure, has been driven by neoliberal economic principles that favour private corporations, some of which are in collusion with the ruling elite,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
