Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says the Swapo-led government developed the agriculture, mining and fisheries sectors.<\/b><\/p>\n

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila addressed a group of people at a mini rally in the Windhoek East Constituency on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have invested in the development of our production sector to harness their potential for economic growth and job creation in the areas of agriculture, fisheries and marine resources, in the mining sector, in tourism and other productive sectors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ownership of different mines is largely dominated by foreign companies (88.1%), who mainly extract and export such minerals to external markets. The Namibian ownership is 11.9%.<\/p>\n

She further said the government invested in the development of production to harness the potential for economic growth and job creation in the areas of agriculture, fisheries and marine resources, mining, tourism and other productive sectors. Her words come at a time where Namibia is facing an unemployment crisis in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have invested in the exploration of new opportunities for investment, which through the oil discovery and green hydrogen offer exciting opportunities for the emergence of new industries and new investment opportunities for our local enterprises,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Swapo parliamentary candidate Dino Ballotti said the party has been transparent and accountable to Namibians while in power.<\/p>\n

He promised that the party will continue to keep it that way.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is said that anything done in the darkness undermines the intelligence of people. And as the Swapo party\u2019s sole presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah believes in openness, integrity and accountability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ballotti described Swapo\u2019s manifesto as centred towards young people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have said before that our manifesto is a youth-biased manifesto that prioritises resource allocation to the youth, as well as focused and targeted interventions,\u201d Ballotti added.<\/p>\n
