{"id":80635,"date":"2024-11-16T17:41:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-16T17:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/halliburton-wants-to-create-200-jobs"},"modified":"2024-11-16T17:41:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-16T17:41:00","slug":"halliburton-wants-to-create-200-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/halliburton-wants-to-create-200-jobs","title":{"rendered":"Halliburton wants to create 200 jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Multinational oilfield services giant Halliburton says it aims to create 200 jobs in Namibia as the company wins more contracts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The company is expanding its presence in Namibia with more operation bases.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after it inaugurated several facilities across the country, which will allow it to operate close to customers, collaborate in real-time and deliver the advanced technology and services that maximise the value of Namibia\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n<p>These facilities span across four main hubs \u2013 Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Lu\u0308deritz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last episode of our Namibian journey started in 2022. We were blessed to be awarded two key contracts,\u201d Halliburton vice president Antoine Berel says.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative not only focuses on local footprint, but also job creation, capacity building, compliance with local source guidelines and helping local entrepreneurs grow.<\/p>\n<p>Antoine Bere<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of job creation, the new facilities are expected to employ up to 200 Namibians as we win more contracts. As of today, we have 41 Namibians on board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt represents close to 50% of our permanent workforce. We expect to double that in the near future with the increase of activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our commitment to diversity and inclusion, more than 50% of our Namibian workforce comprises women,\u201d Berel says.<\/p>\n<p>He says the two key contracts are not only beneficial to the company, but also for Namibian exploration campaign success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have realised operations in Namibia would not only stop with a couple of wells. I saw the immense opportunities the country would offer in terms of emerging hydrocarbon provinces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNamibia is still at the beginning of the explorations and appraisal phase,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of mines and energy Tom Alweendo welcomes the company as an investor, saying he hopes what it intends to do for Namibia will materialise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we all agree that the discovery of oil has given us as a country the real potential, the real possibility to transform our economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepending on how we handle this, this is a resource that can really transform our economy into something more dynamic, helping us address some of the challenges we have in terms of our economic growth,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\">Namibia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia.
