Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) councillor Phillipus Balhao has been re-elected as Lu\u0308deritz\u2019s mayor. He is deputised by Swapo councillor Josephine Heita.<\/p>\n

Balhao said the town will prioritise initiatives that empower the youth and support local entrepreneurs, as well as ensure that every voice in the community is heard and valued.<\/p>\n

The politician called on the council to celebrate the progress they have achieved together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have revitalised our local economy, improved essential infrastructure, and strengthened the bonds that unite us as a community. But the journey doesn\u2019t end here. In fact, it is just beginning,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He said the town stands on the brink of exciting new opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the potential to become a hub for sustainable industries and innovation, creating jobs and fostering economic growth,\u201d he enthused.<\/p>\n

The town\u2019s first citizen gave the assurance that the council would explore avenues for development that respect the environment, whilst also enhancing the quality of life of all residents.<\/p>\n

Bilhao expressed commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every citizen feels empowered to contribute towards a shared vision. The seven-seat council comprises Benjamin McKay (Popular Democratic Movement) as chairperson of the management committee, with Anne-Marie Hartzenberg (Landless People\u2019s Movement) and Louise Batromeus (IPC) serving as members of the management committee.<\/p>\n

Swapo members Johannes Abraham and Brigitte Fredericks will serve as ordinary councillors.<\/p>\n
