{"id":80816,"date":"2024-11-19T17:55:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T17:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/swapo-has-a-bankable-plan-alweendo"},"modified":"2024-11-19T17:55:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T17:55:00","slug":"swapo-has-a-bankable-plan-alweendo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/swapo-has-a-bankable-plan-alweendo","title":{"rendered":"Swapo has a bankable plan \u2013 Alweendo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Swapo leader assigned to the \/\/Kharas region Tom Alweendo said the party has a workable plan to address socio-economic challenges facing Namibians.<\/p>\n<p>He said this while delivering a keynote address during a mini-rally in Lu\u0308deritz recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have what is needed to deliver in terms of the party manifesto,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The mines and energy minister continued that Swapo\u2019s plan to grow the country\u2019s economy and reduce unemployment is working.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll we are asking from you today is to give us the mandate for the next five years to make sure the sectors of our economy are going to work, and reduce and address the unemployment challenge in the country,\u201d the politician requested.<\/p>\n<p>He informed party members, supporters and sympathisers that Swapo was the first political party to acknowledge that it has challenges in terms of governance related to unemployment, insufficient infrastructural development, and not enough education and health services.<\/p>\n<p>He promised that Swapo would ensure that the green hydrogen, as well as gas and oil projects, will be managed in such a manner that all Namibians benefit.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of the exploration of Namibia\u2019s rich minerals, he said they will no longer leave the country in raw form.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCabinet has passed a resolution that our minerals will no longer be exported before the value has been added upon it, hence the construction of two lithium-processing plants in the Erongo region, which can create much-needed employment opportunities for our people,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He asked the audience if they were willing to leave these resources in the hands of people who did not know how the process started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of this country lies in our hands.
