Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span> A 23-YEAR-OLD man was arrested while trying to sell pieces of elephant tusks at Hayisisira village in Kavango West Region.<\/p>\n

According to Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) spokesperson Romeo Muyunda, the suspect was found with two pieces of broken elephant tusk while looking for buyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cA quick operation was conducted by the police in the region and led to the arrest of the suspect after he showed the products to undercover police officials,\u201d Muyunda said.<\/p>\n

The suspect was arrested on Sunday around 21:00 while trying to sell the pieces for which he had no documentation from the MEFT permitting him to possess and sell such products.<\/p>\n

He was charged with possession of controlled wildlife products and trade.<\/p>\n

The man is expected to appear before the Rundu Magistrate\u2019s Court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
