Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The graft-fighting Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been allocated N$116 million for the 2025\/26 financial year.<\/p>\n

Motivating the ACC\u2019s budgetary allocation in the National Assembly on Monday, Speaker Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila confirmed this included operational and development budgets, as stated in the Mid-Year Budget Review.<\/p>\n

She said N$104 million is allocated for operational activities, while N$13 million is earmarked for capital development.<\/p>\n

The operational budget is spread across the commission\u2019s six divisions \u2013 the office of the director general, administration, investigations, public education and corruption prevention, security and risk management services, as well as performance improvement.<\/p>\n

Investigations have been allocated the second-largest budget with N$41 million, of which N$36 million is for remuneration and related expenditures.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this regard, it should be noted that the commission has only five regional offices. Investigating officers are required to travel to the remaining regions whenever the need arises,\u201d said the Speaker.<\/p>\n

She noted that N$2.5 million is earmarked for contractual obligations in respect of the upgrade and maintenance of investigative software licensing and annual fees.<\/p>\n

In addition, N$1.5 million will cater for acquiring specialised expertise and skills for complex investigations.<\/p>\n

The biggest chunk of the ACC budget, N$46 million, is allocated to administration, of which N$13 million is earmarked for remuneration and related expenditure.<\/p>\n

\u201cAllow me to remind this august House that corruption impacts negatively on investor confidence, economic growth and development, infrastructure development and healthcare \u2013 to mention but a few.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the aforementioned, it remains crucial to improve the budget allocation of the ACC to enable it to perform its entrusted responsibilities and mandate,\u201d Kuugongelwa-Amadhila stated.<\/p>\n
