Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Two people were injured when an Iveco bus and a Toyota Corolla bumped into the trailer of a truck that was attempting to make a U-turn, approximately 10 kilometres outside Omuthiya in the Oshikoto region.<\/p>\n

According to Oshikoto Police commissioner Armas Shivute, the incident happened in the morning at Omutsegonime village around 05h00 on Tuesday. It is alleged the driver of a truck was driving from Oshivelo towards Omuthiya and was stopped by a motorist, who told him his spare wheel fell off and it was on the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe then decided to make a U-turn to get his wheel \u2013 but unfortunately, the truck got stuck, and the trailer part remained on the road; it has been there, blocking the road the whole night,\u201d said Commissioner.<\/p>\n

Shivute explained that while the truck was straddling both lanes, an Iveco bus, belonging to Silas Ndapuka, slammed into the truck. The driver had to be cut out of the wreckage by a rescue team.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough he was stuck in the bus, no physical injuries were identified. There were three occupants in the bus, but none of the passengers got injured from the bus,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Shivute further said, at the same point, a blue Toyota Corolla rammed into the same truck, and the driver sustained serious injuries. Both drivers were taken to Omuthiya Hospital.<\/p>\n

In another incident on Monday at about 07h30 on Otavi-Tsumeb main road, about 10km outside Tsumeb, a quantum minibus overturned, causing injuries to three passengers. According to Shivute, the driver of a white Toyota Quantum minibus was travelling from Walvis Bay to a northern region.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that at Tsumeb Hill, the road was slippery due to the diesel that had spilled on the road, causing the driver to lose control over the vehicle and overturn, causing injuries to passengers. All injured passengers were taken to the Tsumeb State Hospital; they are in stable condition.<\/p>\n
