Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Oukwanyama and Ondonga traditional authorities have lost key leaders this week. Former chairperson of the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority (OTA) George Nelulu confirmed to New Era that Onamutai headman Amon Shipanga has died.<\/p>\n

Shipanga passed on at the Oshakati Hospital at the age of 86. Nelulu described him as a courageous leader who was ever ready to serve his community. \u201cHe was a very peaceful man with a pure heart. He used to laugh with everyone. We lost a golden man,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that Shipanga served the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority for more than 22 years. On behalf of the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority, Nelulu extended his deepest condolences to the wife, children and entire family of Shipanga.<\/p>\n

Senior traditional councillor for the Ombulu district in the Ondonga Traditional authority Kashona Ka Malulu has also died on Tuesday at the age of 69.<\/p>\n

The secretary of the Ondonga Traditional Authority, Frans Enkali, made the announcement on behalf of Ondonga chief Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Malulu served as a senior traditional councillor for Ombulu district for 15 years. Frans, who worked closely with him, described him as a straightforward man who addressed matters without delay.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was, indeed, a peaceful man but also courageous. If he was onto something, he would get it done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The death of the two leaders comes two weeks after the death of fellow senior traditional councillor Vilho Kamanja, who was the chairperson of the Ondonga Traditional Council. Kamanja was laid to rest on Saturday at Onyaanya Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Eagle FM reported that Ondangwa district headman John Walenga has been appointed chairperson of the Ondonga Traditional Authority, deputised by ambassador Eddie Amkongo.<\/p>\n
