Swapo party president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said that the party\u2019s regaining control in key regions during the recent Regional Council and Local Authority elections is a call for the party to take appropriate action to ensure service delivery to the nation.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the final Swapo party central committee ordinary meeting at Parliament on Saturday, Nandi-Ndaitwah told central committee members not to take the voters for granted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Swapo party will not hesitate to take appropriate action to ensure service delivery to the nation,\u201d said Nandi-Ndaitwah. \u201cWe were not elected for titles; we were elected to serve, and we must serve without fail. Our service should be delivered with integrity, humility, and teamwork.\u201d<\/p>\n

Namibians on 26 November 2025 went to the polls to elect their Regional and Local Authority Councilors.<\/p>\n

Swapo now has full control of 13 out of 14 regions in the country. This includes regaining control of the regions the party lost in previous elections like Erongo, Hardap, \/Kharas and Zambezi.<\/p>\n

The ruling party has also reclaimed the majority at the Windhoek local authority.<\/p>\n

Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed her gratitude to all Namibians who voted for Swapo during the elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese electoral victories show the trust and confidence that the Namibian people continue to have in the Swapo party and its leadership,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She urged the party\u2019s leaders to remain committed to working hard in meeting Namibians\u2019 expectations and improve the standard of living and livelihoods, whether they are in rural or urban areas.<\/p>\n

Key priorities and year\u2019s highlights<\/b><\/p>\n

According to their 2024 party manifesto, Swapo has set agriculture as the top priority sector.<\/p>\n

Nandi-Ndaitwah hailed the progress she observed at green schemes in the Zambezi, Kavango East, Kavango West, and Omusati regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese green schemes hold significant potential for food self-sufficiency and job creation,\u201d said the Swapo president.<\/p>\n

Another key Swapo priority is youth empowerment which has been amplified by the government\u2019s launch of the National Youth Development Fund aimed at benefitting Namibian youth.<\/p>\n

The fund which has been approved has granted support for 108 youth enterprises and is estimated to create about 719 jobs.<\/p>\n

With the application process reopened this month, more approvals and grants are expected.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the government reduced eternal debt by repaying the US$750 million (N$13.5 billion) Eurobond.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Namibia Public Private Forum opened a new chapter of cooperation between the government and the private sector.<\/p>\n

The establishment of three National Task Forces is also set to boost economic recovery in the health, land and housing sectors.<\/p>\n

Support for international allies<\/b><\/p>\n

Internationally, Swapo has stood firm and reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Western Sahara and Palestine.<\/p>\n

The party has also called for the lifting of sanctions on Cuba, Zimbabwe, and Venezuela.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Swapo party and Namibia remain committed to fairness, justice, and a strong international system that supports peace and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Festive message<\/b><\/p>\n

The Swapo president urged all Namibians to show empathy to another to overcome the escalating suicide and gender-based violence. She also cautioned road users to drive responsibly by adhering to traffic rules and regulations to save lives during the holiday season.<\/p>\n
