Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu d\u00e9mocratiquement en 2011. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9\u00e9lu d\u00e9mocratiquement en 2016, et en 2020, il s\u2019est retir\u00e9, conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 la Constitution du Niger. Il nous a donn\u00e9 l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de vivre enfin, au Niger, apr\u00e8s 60 ans, une transition d\u00e9mocratique \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>A l\u2019initiative de la fondation du milliardaire anglo-soudanais et entrepreneur Mohamed Ibrahim, ce prix, d&rsquo;un montant de cinq millions de dollars, financ\u00e9 sur sa fortune personnelle, se compl\u00e8te d&rsquo;une pension annuelle \u00e0 vie de 200 000 dollars doubl\u00e9e si l&rsquo;ex-dirigeant fonde une \u0153uvre caritative.<\/p>\n<p>Le premier laur\u00e9at de ce prix cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2007, rappelle-t-on, est l\u2019ancien pr\u00e9sident du Mozambique Joaquim Chissano. Puis, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 attribu\u00e9 au Botswanais Festus Mogae en 2008. En 2009 et 2010, le comit\u00e9 n&rsquo;ayant pas identifi\u00e9 de candidat \u00e0 la hauteur de ses exigences, le prix n&rsquo;est pas attribu\u00e9.
