Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers state has declared that he would work with the speed of light in his second term because he believes that four years would soon elapse just as he orderd the demolition of shanties.
Legit.ng learnt that Wike said this after inspecting the ‘Mother and Child Hospital’ under construction and the ‘Government Craft Development Centre’ being rehabilitated in Port Harcourt.
The governor said that the process of projects delivery would be intensified for the good of Rivers people.
“Four years for us is like four months. So we have no time. Now that the people have given us another mandate, we should be able to give them the best,” he said.
Wike said his administration has commenced re-modelling the hospital because the former contractor failed to meet the required standard.
“The former contractor failed to execute the contract in line with the specifications of the project.
“If everything works well as we have agreed, we believe in the next three months, we will complete the ‘Mother and Child Hospital’,” he said.
The governor said more assignments had been given following what had been identified as lapses.
“The contract was not awarded by us and the former contractor was not competent,” he said.
Governor Wike, at the ‘Government Craft Development Centre’, directed the immediate demolition of shanties around the school.
“There are so many shanties in the Government Craft Development Centre. I have directed that they be demolished.
