Africa-Press – Nigeria. Abdulmajid DanBilki Kwamanda is a renowned politician in Northern Nigeria. He is the leader of Arewa Media Group, a group known for Political Commentary.

Danbilki is also a prominent member of the ruling APC. In this Interview with Africa Press, he spoke about how he was brutalized by security agents, who he accused of being directed by the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, for criticizing him during one of his radio programs.Abdulmajid DanBilki Kwamanda also reveals the whole scene of the incident.

Excerpts:
AFRICAN PRESS: Abdulmajid DanBilki Kwamanda, you are a politician and even claimed to be a member of NEPU?

KWAMANDA: Yes, of course, I am a NEPU loyalist. I am a member of the People Redemptions Party-PRP during the Second Republic.

AFRICAN PRESS: we would like to hear from you about your pictures going round on social media; in the picture, you were hand cupped, beaten, and questioned by unidentified people; what happened?

KWAMANDA: Well, the thing is that, you know, only a Democratic person knows the importance and value of democracy.

I can say what happened to me is because of my hostility with Kaduna state Governor Uba Sani.

As a Nigerian and head of Arewa Media organization, I have every right to enter any state and talk about what I consider to be wrong.

I therefore see that, in Kaduna state, the government has done nothing good to people.

This is the reason why such people came and met me at Wise II, which is just about 150 meters away from the hotel where I resided.

I was tracked when they just attacked me with a gun and hand-cupped me.

I came to know the reason for my arrest after we reached Jabi link.

AFRICAN PRESS: Are they police or DSS?

KWAMANDA: Well, they claimed to be police officers.

They tormented me and even said they could have killed me and thrown me in the ditch.

However, at last, I recognized two of them.

Then afterward, my loyalists from Kaduna, who were disturbed by the incident, met me in Abuja and revealed to me the name, contact, and address of one of those two, which I recognized.

As soon as they showed his picture to me, I remembered him.

So, the issue is now under investigation by security, and different groups, including human rights groups, are watching to see what this security will do about it.

AFRICAN PRESS: The Human Rights have contacted us about your issue. Would you like to move to England, or would you prefer to stay in Nigeria ?

KWAMANDA: I prefer staying in Nigeria.

England gives political asylum, just as it gave it to Jaafar Jaafar, a journalist from Nigeria. So, they said if you like to have it, they are willing to assist you to save your political struggles.

KWAMANDA: Yes, this is good, but I prefer staying here in my country Nigeria.

AFRICAN PRESS: Kwamanda, you were sent to jail in Kano many times. What happened there ?

KWAMANDA: Yes, it is true; it is two times even.

There was a time when a guy who said that, the former acting chairman of the APC and Governor of Yobe State, MaiMala Buni, received a bribe to issue a certificate for Kano State party chairman Abdullahi Abbas. This guy said it while discussing with Channel TV, and I just quoted him, but both Mai Mala Buni and the then Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje did not arrest the guy nor take him to court.

However, I, who has no power or Godfather, Ganduje, ordered my arrest and sent me to jail.

The second time was when the present governor of Kano state was going to the rally, doing his campaign before the election; I opined that how can a candidate behave like a feminine? For this, he took me to court, and I also said there was the possibility of a state of emergency in Kano for the Emirates crisis. This also called for my arrest by the Kano State Government under Abba Kabir Yusuf. So I have two cases with them presently.

Kwamanda you are known for your struggle, which party are you now ?

KWAMANDA: I’m in the All Progressives Congress and you know, I am the one who created APC with my CPC certificate, that of ACN and ANPP we formed the APC together.

AFRICAN PRESS: You said, with your CPC certificate, you mean, it was you who created the CPC not Muhammad Buhari ?

KWAMANDA: No, The thing is that, there were Buba Galadima, Yahya Hamma, and myself as well as senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, the current senator from Kano Central. These are the people whom we struggle together to for the CPC registration. The only thing we do is presenting the results of the struggle to Buhari. But he knew nothing about the registration.
