Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Heavy Duty Vehicle Division of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has impounded 28 trucks.
The vehicles were seized due to non-compliance with safety standards during a recent enforcement operation in Lagos.
Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday.
She said the vehicles had infractions such as broken headlamps, faulty rear lights, worn-out tyres, and missing or incomplete wheel nuts.
Other violations included drivers lacking valid licences and failure to present Lagos State Drivers’ Institute, LASDRI, recertification cards, which are mandatory in Lagos.
She noted that the operation was a routine joint effort aimed at improving road safety across the state.
“Its goal is to ensure that heavy-duty vehicles comply with all safety and regulatory requirements,” she said.
