Africa-Press – Nigeria. A truck has been razed by fire in one of the mechanic workshops in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Oyebamiji Transport Services, Sanyo, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
Our correspondent gathered that no casualty was recorded when the Layland DAF Truck with registration number GGE37YA (Lagos) was engulfed by fire.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Mafuf Akinwande, confirmed the incident.
He said, “On Saturday 10th May, 2025, the agency’s control room center received a distressed call at exactly 12:30hrs.
“Immediately the address was taken, the fire officers led by ACFS Adekola quickly left for the scene and on arrival. It was a Layland DAF Truck registered no GGE 37 YA (LAGOS) engulfed by fire. We swiftly swung into action and extinguished the fire and restricted the fire from spreading to the other nearby properties.
“No casualty was recorded but the fire slightly affected the fibre body and we were able to curtailed the fire from spreading to the engine compartment and other trucks at the workshop.
“The fire was as a result of overheating of fibre body due to oxyacetylene welding system.”
