Kebbi govt announces 11-day school closure for Eid-el-Kabir

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Kebbi State Government has ordered the closure of all public and private schools across the state for 11 days in observance of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebrations.

The directive was issued in an official circular from the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, signed by Abubakar Jabbo, Director of Quality Assurance, on behalf of the Commissioner. The holiday will begin on Wednesday, June 4, and last until Sunday, June 15, 2025.

According to the circular, the break is intended to give Muslim students and staff the opportunity to celebrate the annual religious festival without academic interference.

The 11-day holiday marks a notable extension beyond the typical two to three-day Sallah break observed in many Muslim-majority countries.

The current break is expected to affect academic calendars, particularly in private institutions preparing for examinations.
