Africa-Press – Nigeria. The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has discovered a warehouse in Kaduna being used as storage and distribution location for expired non-alcoholic beverages that valued at over N35 million.
This was revealed by Andrew Tamanuwa, Deputy Director, Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, NAFDAC, Kaduna. He said the discovery was in response to information received from a concerned citizen.
Tamanuwa revealed that upon receiving the information, operatives of NAFDAC intercepted two buses and a Volkswagen Golf loaded with expired products heading to Kwanar Dangora in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.
The products included 700 packs of Schweppes and 300 packs of Fanta Orange that have expired since November, 2024.
The seized items have since been transferred to NAFDAC’s warehouse, where they will be destroyed in accordance with public safety regulations.
Tamanuwa also confirmed that the owner of the expired beverages has been arrested and currently in custody as investigations continue to trace other individuals possibly involved in the operation.
