Petroleum Tanker Tumbles in Oyo Carrying 45,000 Litres

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Another petroleum tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petroleum, has tumbled in Oyo State.

The incident occurred at Alagbayun area, Odo-Oba in Ogbomoso.

It was learnt that the incident occurred on Monday.

The petroleum tanker with registration number BAU 586ZE swerved across the road and content gushing out.

Our correspondent learnt that no life was lost in the incident.

Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, when contacted, confirmed the development on Tuesday.

Akinwande noted that the accident occurred as a result of mechanical fault.

He added that the truck has been cleared off the road and normal vehicular movement is going on on the road.

He said, “On getting to the scene of the accident, we met a Howo trailer tanker with reg. number BAU 586ZE loaded with 45,000 litres capacity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) swerved across the road and content gushing out.

“Immediately, we swung into action by blanketing the area with foam chemical compound, so as to neutralize the flammability of the content to prevent any imminent fire from surrounding. The accident was due to mechanical fault from engine compartment.”

The incident occurred few days after a petroleum tanker carrying some quantities of PMS tumbled in the state.
