Africa-Press – Nigeria. Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Wednesday visited several communities in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area following a series of bandit attacks.

The Zamfara Circle Community Initiative reported that 144 people had been kidnapped, 24 killed, and 16 injured across various LGAs in recent weeks.

In July, bandits allegedly killed 33 kidnapped victims in Banga town after collecting a ransom of N50 million.

During his visit, Lawal condoled the families of victims and pledged to intensify security operations in the state. He said the attackers deliberately targeted communities to instil fear and called on residents to remain steadfast in prayers.

The governor also promised to improve road networks, electricity, potable water, and mobile services in the affected areas.

Communities visited include Banga, Sakajiki, Kuryar Madaro, Maguru, and Tambarawa.
