Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Adamawa state government has reunited 14 children rescued from a trafficking syndicate in Anambra State with their families.

Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, speaking during the handover in Yola, said the children, aged between 4 and 9, were abducted from different communities and trafficked for between ₦800,000 and ₦1.7 million each.

She disclosed that security operatives arrested the suspected ring leader, Ngozi Abdulwahab, who allegedly lured the children from her provision shop in Jambutu ward, Yola North, using snacks and gifts.

Farauta condemned the act as “an unfortunate monster ravaging the nation,” vowing that the suspect would face prosecution under federal and state laws, including the Trafficking in Persons Act and the Adamawa Child Protection Law.

She explained that the rescued children underwent medical examinations and psychological therapy before being reunited with their families. Each parent received ₦100,000, food, and non-food items to aid reintegration.

She also assured, the Ministry of Women Affairs and local welfare officials will also monitor their welfare.
