Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed as false a claim by the Senator David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, that it has lured more than 10,000 PDP members and taken over the Agatu political landscape.
In a statement on Thursday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, described the allegation as “a deliberate fabrication” and “an insult to the intelligence of the good people of Agatu.”
Nyor cited the 2023 election results to buttress his argument, noting that the PDP secured 14,936 votes in Agatu while the All Progressives Congress, APC, garnered 5,956.
He questioned how “an infant party” like the ADC could suddenly boast of wooing 10,000 PDP members roughly 75 percent of the entire electorate.
“This is yet another fallacy in a series of fabrications by a party currently struggling with internal wranglings and disputes over its own structures,” the statement added.
The PDP urged its supporters to ignore the “spurious assertions” and remain focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reaffirming its dominance, the party maintained that it remains the “party of choice” in Agatu and across Benue State, citing its grassroots reach and record of service to the people.
