Police Arrest Three Suspected Phone Snatchers in Niger

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspected phone snatchers and a 63-year-old man for stealing a motorcycle in two separate operations.

The Command, in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna, said the motorcycle thief, a 63-year-old Mohammed Sani, was arrested on October 12, 2025, at Tugan-Kawo village, Kontagora.

The sexagenarian was apprehended for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.

The PRO disclosed that Sani, a resident of Tungan-Gero, Mashegu LGA, was found with a bunch of motorcycle keys used to steal motorcycles.

“He confessed to the crime, and the owner of the motorcycle was later identified. Sani has been charged to court for prosecution,” Abiodun stated.

In the second operation, he disclosed that three suspected phone snatchers were arrested on October 12, 2025, at Kure Market, Minna.

The suspects, Hassan Abdullahi, 19; Abubakar Ali, 25; and Kalipha Bashiru, 21, were arrested after a distress call was received at GRA Division.

According to him, “The suspects, who usually use unregistered tricycles to snatch phones from unsuspecting members of the public, were identified by several victims who appeared at the police station with packs of their stolen phones.”

The suspects are under investigation and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.
