Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw nation, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has denied the report on social media linking him with a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over the continued detention of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
His Media Consultan, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, made this rebuttal in a statement in Warri on Sunday.
The statement explained that Tompolo did not author the said publication, adding that he has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.
“High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. It is clearly the handwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.
“It is clearly the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out there to discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.
“This set of people has failed and will continue to fail because he will not relent in carrying out his duty to totally eradicate illegal oil activities in the region.
“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government,” the statement said.
DAILY POST reports that human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, recently led a protest in Abuja, to demand the immediate release of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Recall that on Friday the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned Kanu’s trial till Monday, October 27, to enable him to open his defence in the terrorism charges filed against him.
