Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Labour Party (LP) in Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State has collapsed its structures into the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the state.
The event, which took place in Chikun Local Government Area on Sunday, witnessed all the executive members of the Labour Party, from the ward to the local government level, resigning their membership from the party.
Receiving the decampees into the YPP, the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Hon. Williams Moses, and the State Chairman, Mall. Mikailu Abubakar, applauded the decision of the Labour Party leadership in the two LGAs, describing it as a moment of genuine renewed hope not only for the people of Chikun and Kajuru but for the entire state.
In his remarks, Moses explained that the decision of the decampees was driven by a genuine desire to serve their people more effectively through a credible platform, the YPP.
The national officer enjoined the good people of Kaduna State to embrace the YPP as their party of choice, adding that the YPP is a credible alternative capable of leading Nigerians to the promised land a land of unity, service to the people, and accountability.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, the Labour Party Chairman in Chikun, Hon. Yerima Ahmed, stated that Chikun is the “Centre of Politics” in Kaduna State, hence the need to join a party that believes in the unity of Nigerians and is equally ready to be accountable to the people.
Ahmed said, “Our decision to resign our membership from the Labour Party was a personal decision, not because of any disagreement or crisis, but because the YPP represents new life for both the old and the young.”
He further explained that the YPP reflects a sincere commitment to equity, unity, and progress the reason all the executive members of the LP in Chikun and Kajuru share a firm conviction to align with the YPP’s vision.
