Africa-Press – Nigeria. Kwara State Fire Service, on Saturday, recovered a female dead body from a domestic well in Ilorin, the state capital.

The 12-year old girl identified as Nabilat of Busari Alao street, Ikoyi community, Irewolede area, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, fell into the domestic well and was recovered dead.

The tragic incident, according to the spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle, occurred at about 10:35hrs.

The fire service was summoned through an exchange telephone call by one Mr Mayowa living in the neighbourhood.

Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to a family member of the deceased.

According to a report, the victim went to fetch water and in the process, suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled into the well.

Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and desist from sending under-age children to fetch water in domestic wells.
