Africa-Press – Nigeria. United States Congresswoman, Pramila Jayapal, has asked her colleagues not to bully Nigeria over the ongoing wave of insecurity in the country.
Jayapal made the call Wednesday, at the US Congress Public Hearing on Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ CPC, which is investigating Trump’s redesignation of the country.
She was reacting to President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria if the killing of Christians does not end.
“I just wish we would stick to that playbook rather than bully and threaten Nigeria, which is extremely important to us in the region.
“I don’t think it’s the right way to go on Truth Social and threaten with guns blazing,” she said.
Delegations of senior members of the Nigerian government are currently meeting with the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Africa to chart a way forward to end the menace of insecurity in the country.
