Africa-Press – Nigeria. The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has said that viral reports claiming the institution had been shut down following an alleged invasion of Ijebu-Ode by bandits are false, malicious, and misleading.
According to the management, the report was intended to cause unnecessary panic within the university community and across the state.
The university allegedly ordered students to leave their hostels due to a purported security breach at Ijebu-Ode.
However, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, insisted that no such directive was ever issued, adding that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the university’s Ijagun campus was under any form of attack.
The institution advised the public to ignore the fraudulent report and refrain from disseminating unreliable material that could incite fear, reassuring that academic and administrative operations are proceeding normally and that students’ welfare and safety remain a top priority.
“There was never a closure of the institution, nor were students asked to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun remains peaceful and safe.
“All staff and students are advised to go about their academic and lawful duties without any anxiety,” he added.
Meanwhile, the university urged the general public to rely solely on its official communication channels for credible updates.
