Africa-Press – Nigeria. In a strategic move to revolutionize agriculture and tackle food insecurity, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has flagged off a Joint Agricultural Intervention Project and inaugurated seventeen farm managers, one representing each Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The agricultural activities include piggery, feed mill and maggot farming, ginger and cassava processing plants, poultry farms, pepper farming and processing, among many others.

Flagging off the project in Umuahia, Governor Otti urged the farm managers to be committed, focused, and resilient in carrying out the assignments given to them.

Governor Otti, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, said that with the inauguration, Abia is stepping into a new era of agricultural intervention.

“Our charge to the farm managers inaugurated today is that we are stepping into a new era in agricultural intervention in the Southeast, starting from Abia State.

“We believe this will be a major turning point in the agricultural revolution in our state, impacting food security and improving the economy of Abia and our people,” he said.

He noted that the project is driven by the local government but in collaboration with the state government to make it work because “we are all one people.”

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated seventeen farm managers, Mrs. Glory Nwaogbe promised to live up to expectations, assuring that they would not disappoint the Abia State government or the people.
