Africa-Press – Nigeria. Temporary workers from the Kano State Water Board held a demonstration at the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday calling for their confirmation as permanent staff after serving, over 15 years without formal employment status.

Under the leadership of Comrade Najib Abdulsalam, Chairman of the Joint Union of Kano Government Workers at the Water Board the demonstrators handed over a petition to the Assembly, expressing grievances over what they called years of disregard by administrations despite their extensive service.

Comrade Abdulsalam mentioned that numerous impacted employees had suffered difficulties while awaiting the confirmation of their appointments, pointing out that their ongoing position, as temporary workers was both disheartening and unjust.

Accepting the petition, Tahir Haruna Musa Hungu, Chairman of the House committee on water resources guaranteed the workers that the legislative body would take measures to address their concerns and strive for a permanent resolution.
