Africa-Press – Nigeria. Christian Cleric, Prophet Sam Olu‐Alo, has urged the federal government to involve local hunters in securing Nigeria’s farmsteads, religious houses and bushes being ravaged by bandits and terrorists.

Olu‐Alo made the call in an interview with our correspondent, Friday.

The cleric stated that only genuine local hunters have the adequate knowledge and traditional means to deal with terrorists and bandits who are making Nigeria’s rural environments and faith‐based organisations unsecured.

He urged the government, religious organisations and traditional rulers to work with local hunters, who, he said, possess the intelligence and information at the grassroots to secure their localities.

“Insecurity always starts at the grassroots. Our local hunters should be allowed to secure our bushes and farmsteads. They should be given adequate support and not neglected, as they would assist the police and other security operatives.”

Religious leaders should also be involved in the fight against banditry and terrorism. It is our responsibility as ambassadors of God on earth to ensure that there is peace in our country, irrespective of our faith, whether we are Christians, Muslims or traditional believers,” he added.

The cleric also suggested what he described as corporate prayer by all true men of God as the lasting solution to Nigeria’s problem.

“I have always advocated corporate prayer by all true men of God in Nigeria. Let all the men of God come together and cry to God about Nigeria and see if something spectacular would not happen within 24 hours.

“None of our church members should be involved in this joint prayer session of all men of God and we must not differentiate or base our coming together on denominational lines, but as one body of Christ’s church, disciples of Christ.

“All men of God who would be party to this should have strong faith and oneness of mind. We will surely move mountains and solve Nigeria’s problems once and for all.”

Prophet Olu Alo’s appeal was to seek lasting collaboration between security agencies, religious bodies, traditional leaders and local hunters to curb banditry and terrorism, while he also emphasise the power of prayer in solving Nigeria’s problems.
