Africa-Press – Nigeria. As insecurity continues unabated across Edo State, the leadership of the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has called for the urgent intervention of the State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, stating that kidnappers have impoverished the people through unbearable ransom demands ranging from N20 million to N100 million and above.

The Chairman of CRPP, Samson Isibor, made the call during the award ceremony for some deserving personalities and organisations in the state recently in Benin City.

According to him, the insecurity situation in Edo State is alarming and overwhelming.

He said Edo people cannot sleep with their eyes closed again, as kidnappers and other criminal elements have taken over the bushes, highways, and farms.

He noted that the kidnappers have terrorized the people to the extent of chasing them home to abduct them.

“That’s why we are calling on Governor Okpebholo to come to our rescue and fulfil his electioneering promises to deliver us from the hands of these criminal elements, who have impoverished us through unbearable ransom demands ranging from N20 million, N100 million, and above.

“Edo State is one of the poorest in the federation. With no work and no food, kidnappers are still capturing us like prisoners of war, demanding ransom from the impoverished masses of the State.

“Governor Okpebholo should rise to the occasion and free us from this situation. We know that some critics are giving you nicknames such as ‘Akpako Rescue’ or ‘Akpako Messiah,’ which you are not.

“After one year in office, nothing has changed in our lives; we are still as poor as before. The high cost of food, lack of jobs, and thousands of our graduate children roaming the streets looking for non-existent employment remain serious challenges,” he alleged.
