Africa-Press – Nigeria. A devastating midnight fire has claimed the lives of five members of a family at Kofar Sauri area of Katsina State, plunging the community into deep shock and mourning.
The tragic incident occurred at midnight of Monday when the family’s house was completely engulfed by flames. The victims including father, mother and their three children were reportedly trapped inside as the flames spread rapidly across the building.
Residents said by the time they noticed the blaze and rushed to assist, the fire had already consumed the structure and its contents, leaving no chance of saving the occupants.
The state fire service department is yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the fire, however residents speculate it might be the result of sudden power surge. “There was an unusual electricity surge when the light came back. That’s likely what caused the fire,” a resident said, noting that the community frequently experiences high-voltage surges whenever power is restored.
